It’s Just A Sunday Cake

Last Sunday was a quiet day in our household and a day of rare occasion, that we had no specific place to be. For once we could enjoy it without the busy that we are so often caught up in.

We decided it would be a great day to spend some time with family, share a gift of meat that was given to us and keep it simple.

My daughter had been asking for a specific cake she likes to be made for a couple weeks, yet I still had not made it.
Life had been on the go for us, so the supplies for the cake had been bought, yet still on the shelf. On Sunday, I decided to bake the cake, finally, and take it to my father-in-laws where we decided to gather for lunch. Everyone brought a dish to pass and we enjoyed lunch with family, scattered around the house, watching college basketball and visiting.

When I walked in, my nephew asked me who’s birthday cake I made or who we were celebrating and my response was, “it’s just a Sunday cake.”

It was for no reason, simply a cake I knew my daughter was waiting for and one we could bake and have enough people to share it with! It was simply a SUNDAY CAKE! It was white, with sprinkles, and apparently tasted perfect, according to my daughter.

I almost didn’t bake the cake. Well in fact, I was running out of time when my son offered to help and he made it, it baked and I frosted it so we would have a Sunday cake.

After the day ended, I thought about our simple Sunday, the Sunday cake and why we wait so often to celebrate. Like the cake, we don’t need a reason to celebrate. Everyday we wake up, should be reason enough to celebrate and we should treat it like a gift and see the time we spend with others as a bonus.

Sunday was nice and although I will be the first to admit I may not always make a Sunday cake, I will relish in the enjoyment of the gift to celebrate every moment I can spend with those I love and care about and hope you will too! Don’t wait to “not be busy” and put off spending time with others! If you want to make a Sunday cake, or a Monday cake or bake one any day of the week, don’t wait for the special occasion to celebrate. Celebrate the gift of life everyday and make every moment a memory to cherish.

Along the way, I will continue planting positive seeds, sharing through my personal blog and featuring all of my favorite people, places and things! I hope you will follow along! Stay connected at thoughtfulseedproject.com and of course, if you need help writing, reach out!
